Christopher B. Furlong, M.D.
Board Certified — Gastroenterology
Originally from Philadelphia, PA, Dr. Furlong is a graduate of Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the Naval Medical Center, San Diego and his Gastroenterology Fellowship at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda.
He was on active duty in the United States Navy for over 12 years, reaching the rank of lieutenant commander. His last tour was as a staff gastroenterologist at the Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, Virginia.
He practices general gastroenterology and has particular interest in colon cancer prevention. Dr. Furlong and PA GI have been leaders in Central Pennsylvania to help raise awareness about the importance of screening colonoscopies to save lives. He encourages everyone to Get Screened For Life.
Dr. Furlong has authored several papers on topics ranging from colon polyps to autoimmune hepatitis. He has been caring for PA GI patients since October 2001.
